Shop owner Paul Gabriel, used to work in London. He would buy and sell different fashion items.
He then decided to open up his own shop. In 1998 he started Neptune's Revenge surf shop. It was sited in the same place that it is now, Northleigh Farm in Birdham.
He was already a prominent surfer in the local community and thought owning his own shop would be good.
The shop started off with a few clothing items and the main feature was the fact that Paul would make his own surfboards, some for himself, and many that he would sell in the shop.
